Verdict : Go watch Dilwale for SRK and Kajol ____________________________________________________________________
There is so much talking about reunion of SRK-Kajol paring after 5 years, they are looking ravishing together and all. But!! For a while if we forget about the Jodi what is our expectation when Rohit Shetty and SRK teams up! Fun, comedy (even if it is stupid), toppling of fancy cars and lots of entertainment… And what we have? As ‘Dilwale’ releases today here is our assessment if Rohit Shetty successfully delivered another blockbuster or ‘Dilwale’ is just another cliché love story.
Story :-
Veer (Varun Dhawan) is a sweet-natured flirty boy who lives with his principled sibling Raj (Shah Rukh Khan) in Goa. He meets and fell in love with Ishita (Kriti Sanon) and gets help from Raj in his interest. In the interim, Veer welcomes the anger of a trying-hard-to-be-clever Don King (Boman Irani), the most recent form of Vasooli Bhai from the Golmaal franchise. That instigates something very violent in Raj which in turn makes everybody believe that he has a mysterious past. Cut to Bulgaria, 15 years ago. A young Kali (Shahrukh Khan) is zipping around in mean machines pulling off heists. He oversteps, when he robs gold belonging to his father Randhir's (Vinod Khanna) mafia rival Malik (Kabir Bedi). Malik hollers, "Randhir's trump card is Kali. Finish him.'' This is followed by a turn of events. Kali knocks down a pretty tourist called Meera (Kajol).
Whats hot :-
The film inclines intensely on Shah Rukh's stardom, Varun's energy, stunning locales (Iceland and Bulgaria), and played cards on SRK-Kajol Jodi. Kajol is more sincere, and both performers occasionally invoke some flame when their eyes lock or when their smiles match, however there is too little of this in the midst of the relentlessly over-the-top silliness. Music is peppy and melodious. Kriti looks pretty!
Whats not:-
Low on substance, in cohesive screenplay and lowbrow dialogs (Sajid-Farhad), bad PJs and over-the-top circumstances. Rohit Shetty uses favorite Goa as a back drop, done up in blindingly bright colors (it’s almost as if the painter is scared to miss out a single hue in the palette).
End Note:-
Watch it for Kajol and, to a lesser notch, for SRK. Whatever is left of the on-screen characters on this vehicle, apart from Varun Sharma occasionally, others are negligible travelers.
