'Gully Boy' has been one of the highly appreciated films of 2019 and it went on to become India's official entry to the 92nd Oscar Awards. This week it was announced that the Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh starred has bagged the best film from India award in the regional finals at the Asian Academy Creative Awards ceremony.
Farhan Akhtar congratulated the entire team in a tweet and shared his excitement. He wrote, "Gully Boy wins the best film from India in the regional finals of the Asian Academy Creative Awards. Congratulations team,"
'Gully Boy' is inspired by the lives of Mumbai street rappers Vivian Fernandes aka Divine and Naved Shaikh aka Naezy, it also shed light on the underground rap movement in India and made an impact on the genre for the Indian Music industry. The film also saw, Kalki Koechlin, Siddhant Chaturvedi and Vijay Raaz in pivotal roles.
The film directed by Zoya Akhtar released on 14th February 2019. Apart from the film, Netflix's 'Delhi Crime,' also went on to win several awards in various categories. While Shefali Shah won the Best Actor, the show also won for best direction and original screenplay.
